What’s in a Name

Unlike web2 domains, which have one universal standard and governing body, web3 domains are more decentralized and require coordination to resolve.

What we see in the market is wallets and dapps plugging in resolution services for each web3 namespace one by one. It’s a pain and results in a mish-mash of services.

In response, we’ve built a universal resolver for the major web3 namespaces that you can plug in with one simple integration.

And it’s FREE.

Our resolver works with all domains offered in both our free and paid domain services. We’ve also recently acquired a company called Everyname that resolves 100+ namespaces and we’re integrating that service into ours.

Key Considerations

Keep in mind a few key considerations when thinking about web3 domain resolution.

  • Forward Resolution: resolves a web3 name/domain to a blockchain address. For example, vitalik.eth resolves to 0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045. For transactions, this function is critical. Users type in the name they’re sending to and you need to resolve it to the correct blockchain address.

  • Reverse Resolution: resolves a blockchain address to the web3 name attached to it. For example, 0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045 reverse resolves to vitalik.eth. For UX, this function can help tremendously. Instead of displaying a blockchain address as the user within your interface, you can display the user’s web3 name.

  • Namespace Support: the more namespaces your resolver accepts, the more user-friendly your wallet or dapp will be. Our resolver works with all domains offered in both our free and paid domain services. We’ve also recently acquired a company called Everyname that resolves 100+ namespaces, by far the most of any resolver on the market.

Demo

You can check out our resolution demo page at https://superlink.me/demo. Input a Superlink domain into the search bar and push ‘resolve’ to see the wallet addresses linked to that domain.
